News from The Missionary Training Service: the Online Searchable Database of Training Courses

The Evangelical Training Directory - www.trainforChrist.org

Coordinating with member bodies of the International Commission for Evangelical Theological Education (ICETE) and Trainers of Pastors International Coalition (TOPIC), the Missionary Training Service has launched a multi-lingual online database of training courses. Some eight hundred evangelical theological colleges, missionary training organisations, Bible Colleges and non-formal training programmes have entered information about their training programmes, and we hope that more will do so. All this information is searchable world-wide in all major languages.

World Evangelical Alliance endorses the ETD

The World Evangelical Alliance, a body which represents 600 million evangelicals world-wide has endorsed the evangelical training directory as a central directory of Bible Colleges and evangelical training. It has incorporated the directory into its own site at www.worldevangelicals.etdi.org.

Dr. Chris Wright, Chair of the Lausanne Theology Working Group and International Ministries Director of the Langham Partnership is also backing the project. We value your prayers for this initiative, that it will enable all Christians to find out what training is available and so be better prepared for service.

Details

	The database is free for anyone to search and free to post information on courses, though we invite donations to support the project.
	We are liaising with as many training associations and organisations as possible so that all can partner together in this project and avoid duplication of effort.
	The system displays only training institutions that have been validated for authenticity as an evangelical body.
	Training institutions fill in the details of their courses directly onto the site and can update their entries as needed through a password.

Advantages

	By working together, organisations can save much time and effort and make information accessible for prospective trainees.
	We hope that all courses will be promoted world-wide, through various portals.
	Links are provided to training organizations' sites so that those searching can go directly to them.

Challenges

The project depends on the active cooperation of evangelical alliances and associations world-wide. By God's grace we have overcome the problems of access in multiple languages and alphabets.

Languages

The training database is now fully functioning in twenty-one languages.
