Training

The online MTS training programmes aim to cover all aspects necessary to equip missionaries and tentmakers for church planting work among people of other cultures. The Certificate level programme covers all the essentials and the Diploma level incorporates further reading and assignments.

Characteristics of the courses:

	Practical emphasis. As well as understanding the theory through text books and study, the courses will guide you to become competent in the practical side of fulfilling your ministry. Each course involves prayer and work locally - which helps cement relationships with your church and other Christians living near you, and benefits communities of other cultures in your area.
	Part-time study. The leaders of the churches you establish will have ordinary jobs - so it is a good experience to study and work at the same time. Full time missionary education can be expensive, and a long period at a residential training college can leave an embarrassing gap on a CV when applying for work in a restricted access country.
	Personal tutor. All courses are personally tutored. We aim to develop a strong working relationship through meetings, telephone tutorials, e-mails, and response to written work. Each student receives guidance and help in placement with missionary societies.

Certificate Programme

Of the following courses, the ones marked with one or two stars (* or **) are obligatory parts of the Certificate Programme. However, courses may still be done individually as required by trainees. For the Certificate, the trainee must complete at least six courses.

	** Starting and Multiplying Street Fellowships - Principles and practice in beginning street fellowships. A necessary skill for work in restricted countries - and also helpful in the fragmented Western culture. GB£75
	* Cross-Cultural Discipleship - Principles and practice in cross-cultural evangelism. GB£35
	** Missionary Team Work - Developing an effective team, including planning for emergencies and raising finances. GB£35
	* Tentmaking - Understanding the place of work in extending God's Kingdom, and making concrete plans for either business or employment abroad. GB£35 plus £65 if including starting a business.
	** Learning Another Language - Mastering the techniques of learning another language. GB£75
	Developing an Effective Sending Church - Practical steps to mobilise a church in missions. GB£75
	Working with Muslims - Principles and practice. GB£35
	Working with Hindus and Buddhists - Principles and practice. GB£35
	Being an advocate for an Unreached People Group - Practical steps to focus on an unreached people group. GB£75

Diploma Level Courses

The courses marked with two stars (**) (in both the list of Certificate Courses above and the Diploma Level courses) are obligatory parts of the Diploma Programme. However, courses may still be done individually as required by trainees. For the Diploma, the trainee must complete at least six courses.

	** Missions and Cross-Cultural Discipleship - Principles and practice in cross-cultural evangelism. A helpful foundation for service in other cultures. GB£95
	** Developing your Tentmaker Strategy - This highly practical course aims to help you in contemporary "tentmaking" - working in a normal job alongside one's missionary work. GB£85
